Twisting Tapes

For this work a set of cotton tapes were twisted then stapled onto a backing canvas to be spray-painted. The tapes were then attached to a strip of timber and fixed at the base with a length of monofilament, to keep the twists in place. The work is displayed with the painted face turned away so that the bulk of the colour reflects off the wall behind.

The backing canvas became another work called Twisting Traces. The two are sometimes shown together.
